UIDAI allows cardholders with Aadhaar cardsto change their address without requiring any documentation. Aadhaar cardholders were permitted to change their addresseven if they could not prove documents proving their identity.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily halted a vital facility that allows you to modify the address of your Aadhaar card's address with no documentary proof of address.

UIDAI allows the users of Aadhaar cards to change their address without the need for any documentation. Aadhaar card holders can alter their address only if they accept the authenticity by the verifier of their address. An address verifier could be a friend, relative, landlord or family member who will permit the Aadhaar card owner to verify their address.

UIDAI has now halted this facility. UIDAI responded to an Aadhaar Card holder by tweeting that updating address on Aadhaar Card via an Address Validation letter has been discontinued. UIDAI has requested an Aadhaar issuer to advise the user that they are able to change their address by using another current PoA document.

Dear Resident Attention: The Contact Validation Letter service has been discontinued until the next notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
